Manchester Stabbing

MANCHESTER — A large police presence remains in place on Dickenson Road in Longsight today after two teenagers were stabbed late Monday night. The road is currently cordoned off between St. John’s Road and Stockport Road as officers continue their investigation.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed they were called to the scene shortly after 9:30 p.m. on November 10. When officers arrived, they found two males — both believed to be around 18 years old — suffering from stab wounds. Emergency services attended and the two teens were taken to hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not yet been disclosed.

Police say two male suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. One was detained on suspicion of assault and taken directly into custody. The second suspect, who also required medical attention, was transferred from hospital to police custody.

The cordon, which was first put in place overnight, remains active this morning. Forensic officers have been seen examining the pavement and surrounding area, while uniformed officers maintain the scene and speak with local residents.

Detectives are now working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the stabbing, though GMP says the investigation is still in its early stages.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said:

“We understand incidents such as this cause significant concern within the community. Officers will remain in the area throughout the day, and we encourage anyone with information or footage that may assist our investigation to come forward.”

The incident has caused disruption to traffic in the area, with congestion reported along Stockport Road, Stanley Grove, and several side streets as drivers divert around the cordon. Local bus routes have also been impacted.

Residents of Longsight woke up to flashing lights and road closures, leaving many understandably shaken.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Greater Manchester Police on 101, quoting the reference number to be issued, or to report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
